Doctor Miguel Ángel Ortiz de Valdivielso has been appointed today as the new managing director of the Hemotherapy and Blood Donation Center of Castilla y León (Chemcyl), replacing Lydia Blanco, who has been in charge of this institution since 2008.

Originally from Burgos, Miguel Ángel Ortiz de Valdivielso holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valladolid and is a specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics. His resume also includes being a Hospital Management Specialist from the University of Valladolid, as well as an International Health Management Specialist from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
He also holds a degree in Business Administration from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and in his academic background, he completed the Executive Management Program at IESE Business School. He is also a European Expert in Quality Management in the Health Sector.
The new head of the Hemotherapy and Blood Donation Center of Castilla y León (Chemcyl), who was the president of the Castilla y León Society of Hospital Directors and Managers, was serving as a technical advisor at the Regional Health Management before his appointment. He has over 28 years of experience leading healthcare facilities, having directed the Santiago Apóstol Hospital in Miranda de Ebro, the University Assistance Complex in Palencia, the University Hospital in Burgos, and the Health Management Area in Jerez de la Frontera.
In addition, he has been a board member of the Spanish Society of Health Executives (SEDISA) and a professor in the Master’s program in Management of Health Centers and Services at the University of Burgos.
