The Junta of Castilla y León has executed 41% of the European funds allocated to drive projects in competitiveness, innovation, energy efficiency, and social integration.

Castilla y León’s FEDER Program, which foresees grants of 355.1 million euros within the 2021-2027 EU framework, is co-financed with an additional 236.7 million euros from the resources of the Junta of Castilla y León to support this program in the Community.

The Junta, through the General Directorate of Budgets, European Funds, and Statistics of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Finance through the General Directorate of European Funds, along with representatives of the European Commission, have chaired the Monitoring Committee of the program at the National Center for Human Evolution in Burgos to evaluate and boost the implementation of projects to be financed with FEDER Castilla y León. According to the Ministry’s representation, Castilla y León’s execution is above the regional average.

Furthermore, various co-financed initiatives within the program, such as the Science and Technology portal of Castilla y León, have been analyzed, and visits have been made to the National Center for Human Evolution (CENIEH) in Burgos, as well as two projects funded by the program: the Hydrogen laboratory and the Isotopes laboratory, both at the University of Burgos, aiming to position Castilla y León as a benchmark in this technology and its value chain.

The Monitoring Committee is the body responsible for analyzing the current state of the Program, examining its execution, reviewing the dissemination measures that have been implemented, and the progress in the Evaluation Plan.

The Junta has emphasized the economic and social impact generated by European funds in the territories, especially in Castilla y León, which has contributed to boosting ecosystems of science and research.

On the other hand, the importance of the program in contributing to its execution has been reiterated by the Deputy General Directorate of FEDER Management of the Ministry of Finance, highlighting the key role of European investment in promoting research and scientific dissemination, as well as supporting innovative digital tools that enhance collaboration among researchers and the dissemination of knowledge.
