More than 100,000 people from Castilla y León attended the 12 concerts organized by the Junta de Castilla y León through the Foundation for the Promotion of the Values and Identity of Castilla y León in all provincial capitals of the Community, as well as in the municipalities of Aranda de Duero, Miranda de Ebro, and Ponferrada. Attendance was very high in all locations, especially in León and Ponferrada.
Never before had an autonomous community organized 12 simultaneous concerts in its main cities. In the words of the Presidency Councilor and President of the Foundation, Luis Miguel González Gago, «from the Junta de Castilla y León, we want to appreciate and thank the work of all the people involved in this initiative, which has been a coordination challenge and the implementation of an unprecedented infrastructure to celebrate the Community’s festival.»
The performance of these 12 successful artists was preceded by the corresponding performance of local artists and groups at each celebration venue; a programming that managed to combine the musical talent of Castilla y León with some of the most popular proposals in the Spanish music scene on the same stages.
This night of concerts was the prelude to the celebration of the Day of Castilla y León, a day for which the Junta has scheduled social and solidarity sports activities in the same 12 cities.
As in the concerts held yesterday, during these activities, a family-friendly, festive, and respectful atmosphere was felt, including in terms of weather. These activities were held in support of Plena Inclusión, an organization that works for the integration and support of people with intellectual disabilities.
The celebration of Castilla y León will continue throughout this April 23rd in the town of Villalar de los Comuneros in Valladolid, a municipality that the Junta de Castilla y León has also financially supported for the organization of its own events.
