The Valladolid Fair has hosted the CyLSkills 2025 championships since last Monday, April 7, with the participation of 210 students in Vocational Training, guided and coordinated by 185 teachers from 73 centers in the Community. There were tests in 35 specialties that resulted in 99 gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as seven recognition medals for the two exhibition specialties. This morning, Agustín Sigüenza, the Director General of Vocational Training and Special Regime, presided over the awards ceremony, thus closing this year’s competition.
Through these championships, the Education Department selects the team that will represent the Community in the national Spainskills competition, which will take place in the spring of 2026, as a prelude to the international competitions Worldskills 2026, to be held in Shanghai, China, and Euroskills 2027, which will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany. In fact, the winners of the previous national championship will represent Spain in the upcoming European championship in Herning, Denmark, from September 9 to 13.
The successful results of the Castilian and Leonese delegations in the Skills competitions date back to 2008-2009. In the 2024 edition, the students from the Community achieved the second national position, stepping on the podium in eight of the 29 possible categories, obtaining five gold medals in Mechatronics, Mechanical Design CAD, Welding, Floristry, and Bodywork Repair; two silver medals in Landscaping Gardening and Web Development; and one bronze medal in Integrated Robotic Systems.
Success of simultaneous activities
In parallel, workshops linked to each competition modality, the ‘Try a Skill’ spaces, have been developed. More than 1,100 ESO and Baccalaureate students have tested their skills, getting to know different professions up close. Through this initiative, the Education Department aims to bring Vocational Training closer to young people and their families, and awaken vocations from an early age.
Furthermore, on April 8 and 9, Auditorium 1 of the Valladolid Fair hosted the IV Vocational Training Forum. More than 450 attendees were able to discuss and address the challenges and opportunities facing these studies.
