The Department of Mobility and Digital Transformation has initiated the construction works of the Salas de los Infantes bypass in the province of Burgos, awarded to the Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) formed by Herrero Temiño S.A. and Asfaltia S.L., for a total amount of 9,873,240 euros. It has a planned completion period of 36 months.
The project involves the construction of a new bypass that will directly connect the CL-117 regional road with the N-234 national road, bypassing the urban center of Salas de los Infantes. The main goal of this new infrastructure is to avoid heavy vehicle traffic that currently passes through the town, thus improving road safety. Currently, more than 2,000 vehicles per day, with a high percentage of heavy traffic, travel through the town center, justifying the need for this bypass.
The Minister of Mobility and Digital Transformation, José Luis Sanz Merino, emphasized the importance of this project for the development of the region. «This intervention not only meets a historical demand of the territory, but will have a very positive impact on road safety, traffic flow, and the quality of life of the residents of Salas de los Infantes.»
The new bypass «will facilitate a more direct connection between two strategic axes such as the CL-117 and the N-234, which will also benefit the economic activity of the area,» he explained. «From the Junta de Castilla y León, we continue to promote actions that strengthen territorial cohesion and modernize our infrastructure, especially in rural areas, where it is essential to ensure safe and efficient mobility,» added the minister.
With this intervention, the Junta de Castilla y León reaffirms its commitment to continuous improvement of the regional road network, promoting more efficient and sustainable transportation and contributing to territorial balance in the Community.
Works
The start of the bypass is located at p.k. 3+000 of the CL-117, immediately south of the industrial facilities built in the Cañada de los Bueyes, running westward connecting to the N-234 at its P.K. 435+780, with a length of 2.7 kilometers.
Its execution includes the construction of two identical and parallel underpasses, one to continue a future greenway over the railway infrastructure and another to continue an existing path. It also includes the construction of a viaduct of over 90 meters to cross the Ciruelos River and an overpass to continue the path that connects Salas de los Infantes with the town of Hacinas.
All of this is complemented by the execution of longitudinal and transverse drainage, horizontal and vertical signaling, the installation of safety barriers, and the rest of the necessary actions for the proper execution of the works, including environmental measures incorporated into the project to comply with the environmental report, including those related to fauna protection, consisting of fencing the bypass and conditioning the crossings and drainage works.
