The Minister of Economy and Finance, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, has signed a new financing contract between the Institute for Business Competitiveness (ICECYL) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) worth 25 million to boost the Innovative Growth Plan for SMEs and midcaps developed in collaboration with the Family Business of Castilla y León. The Plan, promoted by the Regional Government through ICECYL, has reached 260 million euros formalized in different financing contracts with the EIB, thus achieving the financing goal with the EIB set for this term.
To date, the Innovative Growth Plan has managed to promote 104 projects of business growth worth 223.5 million euros and a business investment of 676 million, resulting in the creation of 4,640 new jobs and contributing to the maintenance of 12,823 jobs. Additionally, it has a design specifically aimed at the rural world with a significant impact reaching 72.1% of the financed projects, demonstrating the effectiveness of the program aimed at balancing between provinces and strengthening rural areas.
By sectors, financing to the agri-food sector stands out with 44.4% of the total financing granted. This is an activity anchored to the territory, directly affecting the primary sector, which is particularly important in the economy of the region.
This Plan, launched in 2017 and pioneering in Spain, arose from the need to provide the business fabric with greater capacity for growth, technological adaptation, and internationalization. Its main objective is to promote competitiveness, innovation, and the external projection of companies in Castilla y León, while promoting job creation, reindustrialization, productive diversification, and territorial rebalancing, with special attention to rural areas.
