A total of 11,156 students from Castilla y León will participate in the University Entrance Exam (PAU) in the four districts of the Community from today, June 3, until next Thursday, the 5th. The Minister of Education, Rocío Lucas, visited this morning, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Students and Employability of the University of Valladolid, Cristina de la Rosa, the Campus Esgueva Classroom at the Miguel Delibes Campus where she was able to verify the impeccable organization of the exams and talk with several teachers responsible for ensuring their proper development.
On this first day, students will be examined in Spanish Language and Literature and History of Philosophy in the morning, and in various subjects in the afternoon depending on their choice, such as Chemistry, Geography, Technical Drawing Applied to Plastic Arts and Design II, Cultural and Artistic Movements or Technical Drawing II, French, Design, Greek II, Geology and Environmental Sciences, Choir and Vocal Technique II, Portuguese, German, and Italian. This year, as a novelty, students with specific educational support needs will have more time to complete each exercise, and for students diagnosed with dyslexia and/or dysgraphia or a similar disability, the general correction criteria approved by the PAU organizing commission will be adjusted.
In this regard, the Education Minister emphasized that in Castilla y León, «educational equity is our priority, we have been fighting for a single University Entrance Exam for many years without achieving anything from the Spanish Government, which refuses to fight for something so fair, logical, and objective.» This year, the Minister indicated that a historic milestone will take place, with 12 autonomous communities reaching an agreement to standardize dates, specification matrices, exam structure, or correction criteria, such as spelling mistakes, which will be corrected in the same way in all 12 autonomous communities. Lucas reiterated her commitment to continue working to make the Government see that this is «the fairest and most objective approach for everyone, and therefore, the best for the education of our youth.»
Specifically, 4,535 students have enrolled in the district of the University of Valladolid – by campus, Valladolid (2,699 students), Segovia (700), Palencia (659), and Soria (477). On the other hand, the district of Salamanca has managed the second highest number of registrations with 2,840 – by campus, Salamanca (1,625), Ávila (617), and Zamora (598). In the University of León, 2,055 students will take the exams, with 1,552 taking them in the capital and 503 at the Ponferrada campus, and finally, 1,726 will participate in the exams at the University of Burgos.
The PAU grades can be accessed starting from June 12 on the websites of the public universities of Burgos, León, Salamanca, and Valladolid. Finally, the extraordinary exam session is scheduled for July 1, 2, and 3, with grades being released on July 8.
