During the day, the school environment has been transformed into a car-free space to give prominence to children who can enjoy the public space with games, workshops, and outdoor activities.
In addition, the public is encouraged and sensitized to the use of public space as a mechanism for prioritizing sustainable modes of transportation such as cycling or walking to school, as reported by municipal sources in a statement collected by Europa Press.
‘MISIÓN VALLADOLID’
BIKI participates in this event that is aligned with the municipal roadmap ‘Misión Valladolid’ as an Intelligent and Climate-Neutral City in 2030 in Horizon Europe.
The City Council has highlighted that public services like BIKI allow parents to accompany their children to school by bicycle and for students over 16 years old to access a viable, comfortable, active, and sustainable alternative to go to educational centers.
This action is part of an international mobilization taking place simultaneously in over 200 European cities. In Spain, more than 60 schools are participating in the spring 2025 call of Streets for Kids.
