For the second time during the High Fire Danger Season (EPA), the INFOCAL operation increases its surveillance due to adverse weather forecasts that could cause forest fires. The DANA will enter the peninsular northwest on Friday, July 11th, and is expected to affect more intensely the provinces in the northern region of the Community with intense storms, electrical activity, strong wind gusts, and rainfall.

Moderate winds of around 30 km/h are expected throughout the Community with maximums of 35-40 km/h in Burgos and the southern plateaus. The relative humidity forecast is low, around 10-20%, while the temperature is expected to reach 33ºC.
A high density of surface lightning is expected in storm areas that could cause ignitions. Although the precipitation forecast in DANA situations is not exact, localized precipitation between 2 and 8 mm is expected in the northern provinces of the Community.
In response to this scenario, the INFOCAL operation (firefighting device of the Junta de Castilla y León) plans to activate extraordinary surveillance and prevention measures. The Firefighting Service Directorate has ordered the territorial heads of Environment to intensify surveillance, keeping observation posts, fire engines, crews, environmental agents, and wardens on high alert.
In addition to surveillance on fallen lightning, surveillance in agricultural areas near the forest will be increased, especially during harvest activities. It is reminded that harvesting is prohibited with winds exceeding 30 km/h and temperatures above 30ºC, conditions that significantly increase the risk of fire.
