‘Principino’ de Azul Mediterráneo gana el Concurso Provincial de Pinchos de Valladolid

The ‘Principino’ skewer from the Valladolid restaurant Azul Mediterráneo has won the Gold Pincho at the XXVII Provincial Pincho Contest of Valladolid, which awarded its prizes at a gala at the Centro de Cultura Miguel Delibes on Monday, June 9.

The proposal of marinated lamb, cheese, ají, and ceviche broth created by chef Juan Carlos Jiménez, from the establishment located at Paseo Arco de Ladrillo, 48, emerged as the winner in the competition. In the previous edition, it had won the Bronze Pincho.

The XXVII Provincial Pincho Contest also recognized the ‘Milpa’ skewer, a crispy corn ring filled with lamb stew in green tomatillo sauce, tepache gel, and bacalao and pine nut chintextle, a proposal from Habanero Taquería that took home the Silver Pincho.

The Bronze Pincho went to ‘Puceyaki’ from Las Kubas, featuring a spiced and slow-cooked lamb dorayaki, while Restaurante Bodega Mélida Wines in Peñafiel claimed the Copper Pincho with ‘Equilibrio,’ a sphere of ear stew with cod and its brandada.

These winners will represent Valladolid at the 21st National Pinchos and Tapas Contest Ciudad de Valladolid in November.

Furthermore, during Monday’s gala, the award for the most voted establishment by the public went to the ‘El Ilustre Mejillón’ skewer from Los Ilustres, and the award for Best Pincho Concept was won by Moka with their proposal ‘Porky Smash Castellano.’

Additionally, the award for the Most Avant-Garde Pincho went to Ubi la Vega with ‘Evocaciones’; the award for the Most Traditional Pincho to Ángel with their proposal ‘Entre fogones y Viñedos’; the Best Gluten-Free Pincho was won by RíoLuz Gastronomía with ‘Los Espaguetis del Milenio’; the Award for the best Pincho with Valladolid Foods went to Café – Bar Papiro with ‘La Lola nos Lleva al huerto,’ and the Dessert Pincho went to Jiapan with their proposal ‘Eclair Doce-3,’ while the Best Pincho in the Province was also awarded to Restaurante Bodega Mélida Wines in Mélida de Peñafiel for their ‘Equilibrio.’

The event was attended by the Government Subdelegate in Valladolid, Jacinto Canales; the General Director of Tourism, Ángel González Pieras; the Promotion of Agri-food Deputy, Moisés Santana Alonso; the Councilor for Tourism, Events, and City Branding, Blanca Jiménez, and the territorial delegate of the Junta de Castilla y León, Raquel Alonso, among other authorities and sponsors who made this Gala possible.

Likewise, during this gala, the President of the Provincial Association of Hospitality of Valladolid, Jaime Fernández Lafuente, awarded the Conde Ansúrez 2025 prize to Francisco de Borja Lara for his career, social work, and involvement in sports in the city.

Additionally, the Board of Directors took the opportunity to pay tribute to four hospitality establishments that have stood out for their professional trajectory, commitment, and contribution to Valladolid. They are Tomás Aller from the Hotel Escuela San Cristóbal in La Cistérniga, Mila Samaniego from Mesón Don Pelayo in Valladolid, Natividad González Alonso from Cafetería Fragata2 in Valladolid, and Gonzalo Herreros from Café Bar As de Copas in Valladolid.
