El Grupo Municipal Popular will defend five resolutions in this Monday’s Plenary, May 26, in which they will ask the Government of Spain for «political will» to make Valladolid airport «viable» and to fulfill the 30 percent subsidy for urban buses.
The spokesperson for the Group, Blanca Jiménez, explained that they will defend a resolution in which they will demand that the Government and Aena «do their job» at the airport, which is at historic lows despite being «feasible.» «We need political will,» she pointed out.
Similarly, regarding public transportation, they will ask the Ministry of Transport to comply with the 30 percent subsidy for urban buses that was committed to last year and to return to the Valladolid City Council «the money that has not been paid, amounting to more than 400,000 euros.»
Likewise, they will request a 30 percent discount contribution to public transportation in the next semester. «We do not want the decisions made by the Government of Spain to have a negative impact on the city of Valladolid, especially in such an important aspect as mobility,» she noted.
On the other hand, they indicated that they will bring a resolution to reiterate to the Government of Spain the need to develop the lands of the former La Rubia barracks for the construction and development of public housing.
Another resolution will demand that the Government update the advances on account for 2025, while another will insist on the need for a «multicriteria» study to determine the effectiveness of the transformation works on the railway network in Valladolid.
They also aim to «clear doubts regarding the possible duration and costs of an underground project. «We are at a point where we know there is an excess of treasury in the High-Speed Society. Why can’t they use it to dispel doubts about such a long-awaited dream of the city that we know can also be feasible and, above all, has the majority support of Valladolid?» Jiménez pointed out.
