The Ministry of Education will maintain reduced school hours during the months of September and June for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. The department led by Rocío Lucas believes that this measure, as demonstrated in the last 10 years, is beneficial for the students in the Community.
Specifically, all academic years begin with new groups, so it is necessary to make various adjustments in those first days, and one less teaching hour –although teachers continue working in the educational center during this time– helps students adapt progressively.
The Government of Castilla y León will implement a care and attention service for students in the second cycle of Infant and Primary Education in public schools, once the school hours have ended during the months of September and June of the 2025-2026 school year. This addresses a request made by families in the Community.
This care and attention service will be free and voluntary for students, with a maximum duration of sixty minutes.
In addition to this new service, the Ministry of Education reminds families of another option, which is the school dining service in schools where it is provided throughout the rest of the school year. With this, the Government of Castilla y León guarantees daily and balanced nutrition to children. Currently, over 60% of regular diners eat for free or pay only a portion of the menu based on existing discounts.
