The Official Gazette of Castilla y León (Bocyl) today published the call for grants for cooperation projects, micro-projects, and complementary micro-actions in developing countries for the year 2025. This action is part of the international cooperation policies of the Presidency Department, aimed at improving living conditions in the most vulnerable regions of the planet.

The projects can last up to two years, and micro-projects and complementary micro-actions must be carried out within a maximum period of one year. The distinction between them lies in the fact that micro-projects are initiatives of lesser economic scale than the main projects, while complementary micro-actions are punctual interventions or small investments necessary to ensure the continuity of the projects.

Thanks to this funding line, investments in these three types of interventions will be possible, as long as they are carried out by non-profit entities registered as development cooperation agents in Castilla y León. As noted by the Presidency counselor, Luis Miguel González Gago, «the work of these organizations is crucial to eradicate poverty, defend human rights, and combat global inequalities.»

The total budget allocated for this call amounts to 3.8 million euros, distributed as 1.85 million euros for 2025 and 1.95 million euros for 2026. The amount of the grant awarded to each entity will be determined based on the project’s characteristics, viability, and potential impact on the beneficiary population. In any case, the grant can cover up to 80% of the total budget of the development projects submitted, with a maximum limit of 300,000 euros. For micro-projects, the grant can reach up to 85%, with a cap of 63,750 euros, and for complementary micro-actions, up to 90%, with a limit of 45,000 euros.

In 2024, within this funding line, 41 interventions were carried out in 13 countries in Central America, the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South America. Thanks to these initiatives, support was provided to 683,925 people in these territories, especially women, children, youth, indigenous communities, displaced and refugee populations, as well as rural communities.

González Gago emphasized that «the ultimate goal of these interventions is to advance the achievement of international standards in human rights. The policies promoted by the Castilla y León Government, reflected in the IV Cooperation Development Master Plan, focus on the rights to education, health, food, clean water, sanitation, and decent housing.»

The deadline for submitting applications begins tomorrow, May 14, and extends until June 10. Interested entities must complete the standardized forms available on the Castilla y León Government’s electronic headquarters, also accessible from the Foreign Action Portal at accionexterior.jcyl.es.
