The Castilla y León Regional Government will participate in the European Congress on Rural Renewal and Development to be held from May 8 to 10 in the Polish city of Poznań. The event will bring together institutional representatives and experts in agriculture and rural areas from across Europe, within the framework of the Agriregions network, to discuss the main challenges of rural areas and coordinate common strategies for their development.
The opening session will focus on the role of youth in rural areas and will feature interventions by regional and national authorities, as well as academic institutions and associations of young farmers. Representing the Regional Government will be the Director General of Rural Development of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development, Jorge Izquierdo.
Castilla y León has been invited to participate in the working sessions of the Agriregions coalition along with other partner regions such as Emilia-Romagna (Italy), Brittany (France), Hesse and Brandenburg (Germany), and Sibiu (Romania), among others.
Topics to be discussed include the future of European agriculture, rural policies beyond 2027, depopulation, digitization of the field, and the sustainability of the production model. Additionally, there will be a specific meeting of the European Agricultural Regions Coalition (Agriregions) where Castilla y León can share its experience and learn about best practices carried out by other regions.
Participation in this event is part of the commitment of the Castilla y León Regional Government to promote interregional cooperation and strengthen public policies that guarantee territorial cohesion, rural employment, and agricultural sustainability.
